Every August 17th Argentina remains the death of General Jose de San Martin, who died in Bolougne Sur Mer on 1850
SAN MARTIN was the great builder of american freedrom, that were under spanish hands. He liberated three countries at the same time Peru, Chile y Argentina. He is considered one of the three most important military estrategies in the world, with Napoleon and Anibal.
The National Museum History has in the permanent exhibition, portraits of General San Martin, that belong two moments, one in his life as leader of American freedom and another in his retired in Europa.
The first one is from JOSE GIL ( de CASTRO), a peruvian painter, from Lima school, that made the picture among Chacabuco and Maipu batles, Roberto Amigo historian, spoke about a dark skin , is to say his south american features as the painting was made. The painter was a milician black that began to make portraits all the military officers, and of course he painted under his own look, although his origin places him as son of an indian woman and a nobleman, so he was educated in Europe

SAN MARTIN fue el gran constructor de la libertad americana, que estaba bajo las manos españolas. Libertó tres paises al mismo tiempo, Peru, Chile, y Argentina, Es considerado uno de los tres mas importantes estratega militar, junto a Anibal y Napoleron.

El Museo Historico Nacional, tiene en su muestra permanente, retratos del general San Martin, que pertenecen a dos momentos, uno su vida de libertador en America y otro su vida en Europa en momento del exilio.
El primero pertence al pintor JOSE GIL ( de CASTRO), un pintor peruano de la escuela limeña, hecha en Chile, entre las batallas de Chacabuco y Maipu.. Roberto Amigo, historiador, hizo notar los rasgos amaricanos con los que fue retratado. El pintor era mulato miliciano, que comenzó a retratar a toda la oficialidad, y por su puesto lo hizo bajo su mirada. Aunque los origenes de San Martin lo situan como hijo de una india y de un noble americano.
San Martin nunca huyo de sus obligaciones sociales y politicas, y sabia que el retrato era parte de ello.
